FBI Claims al-Qaeda Fingerprint Found on Underwear Bomber Explosives

Al-Qaida bomber leaves behind a fingerprint

WASHINGTON – The FBI has a fingerprint and forensic evidence linking al-Qaida's top bomb maker in Yemen to a trio of explosive devices used in recent attacks on the United States, tangible reminders that Osama bin Laden's death has not eliminated the threat from the group's most active and dangerous franchise.
Investigators have pulled a fingerprint of Ibrahim al-Asiri off the bomb hidden in the underwear of a Nigerian man accused of trying to blow up a plane over Detroit on Christmas Day 2009, U.S. counterterrorism officials said. Investigators also determined that the explosives used in that bomb are chemically identical to those hidden inside two printers that were shipped from Yemen last year, bound for Chicago and Philadelphia.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the cases remain under investigation.
Bin Laden's death leaves al-Qaida's core in Pakistan with a leadership vacuum, one that could make the Yemeni branch known as al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula even more prominent. The Yemeni franchise already had eclipsed bin Laden's central organization to become al-Qaida's leading fundraising, propaganda and operational arm. In a eulogy to bin Laden posted online earlier this month, the group's leader promised more violence.
"What is coming is greater and worse, and what is awaiting you is more intense and harmful," said Nasser al-Wahishi, who once was bin Laden's personal secretary.

Al-Qaida's Yemen branch has become so well-known in the United States that some commentators speculated in the days after bin Laden's death that the radical U.S.-born Yemeni cleric Anwar al-Awlaki would succeed him. But U.S. officials and counterterrorism experts say that's extremely unlikely, given his American citizenship, his relative newcomer status, his 1997 arrest in San Diego on solicitation of prostitution and the fact that he's not even the operational leader in Yemen.
The FBI has been building cases against a number of high-profile terrorists, including al-Asiri and al-Awlaki. For now, though, there is no guarantee those cases will ever make it to a courtroom. President Barack Obama has not indicated what he would do if a major terrorist suspect was captured abroad. It's a politically sensitive issue because, even though civilian courts have been used for years to prosecute terrorism cases, Republicans have portrayed Obama as weak on terrorism whenever he discusses that option.
Intelligence officials long have believed al-Asiri helped build the Christmas and cargo bombs but have never disclosed how they were able to directly link him to the failed attacks. The fingerprint also would help establish al-Asiri's identity if he ever were apprehended, possibly allowing the Justice Department to extradite him to the U.S. for prosecution.
It's not clear who provided the FBI with the original fingerprint used to match the one lifted from the underwear bomb. But it probably came from Saudi Arabia, where al-Asiri and his brother were arrested for their involvement in an al-Qaida-affiliated terrorist cell. They were released and later fled to Yemen in 2006.
In March, the State Department designated al-Asiri a terrorist and banned Americans from doing business with him. The U.S. said he was also involved in planning to bomb Saudi oil facilities.
He's also implicated in the 2009 attack on Saudi Deputy Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, the country's top anti-terrorism official. Intelligence officials say al-Asiri strapped a bomb on his younger brother, who volunteered for the suicide mission. The attack killed the younger brother but only managed to injure Nayef.
Though the device was dubbed the "butt bomb," explosives experts believe the younger brother had actually held the bomb between his legs.

Feds to Mandate Black Box on all New Cars

The feds will mandate next month that all new cars be fitted with a black box, according to news reports. So-called black boxes record information about speed, seat belt use and brake application.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been involved in the use of black boxes since their introduction. In 2006, the safety administration encouraged but did not require automobile manufacturers to install the systems and also did not set a single standard for the way data would be recorded, according to the New York Times.
In February, NHTSA administrator David Strickland said the government was considering making the technology mandatory in the wake of recalls of millions of Toyota vehicles. Strickland made the disclosure to a subcommittee hearing by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
Now they will make the installation of these device mandatory under federal law. If we are to gauge the reaction of the corporate media, this story is not very important. Outside of industry and technology publications, the story was not reported.
Computer chip manufacturer Intel showed off its event recorder last year following the Toyota recall. “With new vehicles, there will very likely be video cameras inside and outside,” said Intel’s chief technology office, Justin Rattner, in a July, 2010, interview. “It’s not particularly new or stunning, but when you combine the cameras with GPS, you’re geo-tagging the video.”
In other words, your car – like your smart phone – may soon become a surveillance device and high-tech snooping will be mandated by the federal government.

Feds Take Out More Domains

Yesterday and without warning, US authorities resumed “Operation In Our Sites” seizing several domain names associated with copyright infringement and counterfeiting. Today, yet more domains were added to the growing list. TorrentFreak caught up with one site owner who told us that while they were taken by surprise by a “pointless” seizure, they’ll soon be back.
domain seizureAs indicated in our exclusive report yesterday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have resumed “Operation In Our Sites”, the domain name seizing initiative designed to crack down on copyright infringement.
Following on from the most recent set of seizures in February, yesterday’s action represents the fourth phase of the operation. The following six domains were taken:
* Re1ease.net
* Watchnewfilms.com
* Dvdcollectionsale.com
* Dvdscollection.com
* Dvdsetsonline.com
* Newstylerolex.com
Today the list has grown again to include the following:
* mygolfaccessory.com
* overbestmall.com
TorrentFreak managed to catch up with PiraCee, an admin at Re1ease.net, a portal that did not host any copyrighted material itself but linked to movie and TV shows on sites like Megavideo.com.
“We were not informed [that the seizure was imminent] in any way,” he told us. “I was just presented with the ICE image upon doing a page refresh.”
For those unfamiliar with the site, Re1ease.net was founded following PiraCee’s split with Ninjavideo.net in late 2008. NinjaVideo, readers will recall, succumbed to ICE raids in 2010 and never recovered.
While undoubtedly quite busy with around 10,000 visitors a day, Re1ease.net was not one the largest sites of its type on the Internet. Indeed, others with significantly higher levels of traffic remain intact, untouched by ICE.
“I don’t believe we were doing anything wrong at all. Many higher profile sites remain unaffected,” PiraCee told us.
So why was Re1ease singled out? Despite being operated from outside the United States, did they have a bad attitude to DMCA takedowns perhaps?
“We have only ever had two DMCA takedown requests – for Source Code and Hobo With a Shotgun,” PiraCee told us. “We removed both.”
But despite losing their domain, a body-blow event for any site, Re1ease.net aren’t giving in.
“We will be back,” said PiraCee, as the site mulled over a possible domain change this morning. “Give us about a week.”
That was a few hours ago though, and things move very quickly in this game.
Scrrls.net will be our new domain and will be up and running soon as we fix our backend,” PiraCee assured us. Indeed, it appears to be fully functioning now.
TorrentFreak continues to monitor developments in phase 4 of Operation in Our Sites and if any additional domains are seized we will update this report.

Sen. Rand Paul Seeks Gun Exemption in so-called Patriot Act Legislation

Gun Owners of America
May 25, 2011
The House and Senate Republican and Democratic leadership have reached a “deal” on extending three expiring provisions of post-9/11 legislation for four years. Following a procedural vote on Monday night, the real battle begins on the bill.
  • A d v e r t i s e m e n t
Gun Owners of America worked with Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on legislation to exempt 4473’s (the form all buyers fill out when a gun is purchased from a licensed dealer) from that statute’s broad provisions. Sen. Paul will offer that amendment this week, assuming Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is not able to block the amendment from being offered.
Here’s a major concern: Assume the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) goes to the “secret court” (the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, or “FISA” court) and argues, without anyone else in the room, that ALL 4473’s should be seized as “business records” because they are relevant to a terrorism investigation.
Can it do that? It’s certainly a big enough danger to warrant our concern and that of Sen. Paul.
In 1986, Congress enacted the McClure-Volkmer Firearms Owners Protection Act to limit BATFE access to 4473’s and other gun records. Such records can only be viewed as part of a “bona fide criminal investigation,” in connection with a trace, or pursuant to an annual inspection.

But under McClure-Volkmer, the BATFE clearly could not seize every 4473 in the country because of a generalized terrorism investigation.
The Paul amendment would make it clear that McClure-Volkmer is still applicable law and was not overturned by 9/11 legislation.
ACTION: Contact your two Senators. Ask them to support the Paul amendment and to oppose any effort to invoke cloture (shut off debate) on the bill in order to make the Paul amendment out of order.

Are American children to be used in medical experiments to test anthrax vaccine?

Tara Green
NaturalNews
May 24, 2011
The highly controversial and potentially lethal anthrax vaccine may be tested on US children if the federal government gets its way. Although adverse event reports related to the vaccine among adult test subjects have included hospitalization, disability and even death, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is exploring the possibility of testing the vaccine on children.
Nicole Lurie, the assistant secretary for preparedness and response at the DHHS, recently requested that the National Biodefense Science Board submit an evaluation of safety issues related to testing the anthrax vaccine on children. The DHHS frames the possible testing as an issue of biodefense preparedness. However, the possibility of pediatric testing of the vaccine both ignores the vaccine’s dangers, and raises the specter of class- and/or race-based selection of medical test subjects which has haunted US health agencies for over a century.
Even in the months in 2001 when letters containing anthrax were mailed to several congressional leaders, heightening national fears during the post-9/11 period, Bill First, a physician and then-Senate Majority Leader, urged caution in use of the anthrax vaccine. He told CNN: “There are very real and potentially serious side effects from the vaccine and anyone who elects to receive the vaccine needs to be made aware of that. I do not recommend widespread inoculation. There are too many side effects and if there is limited chance of exposure- the side effects would far outweigh any potential advantage.”

A 2007 report by the CDC, along with the Vaccine Healthcare Centers of the Department of Defense and the watchdog group Government Accountability estimated that “between 1 and 2 percent” of vaccinated military personnel, experienced “severe adverse events, which could result in disability or death.”
If a vaccine with this kind of reputation is to be tested on children, one has to wonder which children. It is fairly certain those young test subjects won’t be the offspring of high-ranking government officials or corporate vice presidents and CEOs.
The history of medical testing carries a taint of racism, classism and opportunism, as health officials select those with less education and fewer choices to be unwitting guinea pigs in medical experiments supposedly in the name of scientific advancement.
You don’t have to be a conspiracy theorist or history professor to have heard of the notorious 40-year long Tuskegee experiments in which the US Public Health Service withheld syphilis treatment from infected black men to measure the effects of the disease.
In October of 2010, President Obama apologized to Guatemala for tests during the 1940s when the US Public Health Service used prostitutes deliberately infect 700 prisoners, soldiers and patients with emotional and mental problems with syphilis both through visits with prostitutes and pouring bacteria for the disease onto skin abrasions on the subjects’ bodies.

Vaccine testing has its own special place in the annals of this kind of integrity-free medical research. In the early 1960s, mentally disabled children at a residential state school in New York were deliberately infected with viral hepatitis so that they could be test subjects for the disease.
A 1978 CDC test for a hepatitis B vaccine which sought “promiscuous homosexual male” volunteers has some interesting connections to both HIV and the previously rare opportunistic diseases associated with the AIDS virus. As recently as 1990, the CDC and Kaiser Pharmaceuticals gave 1,500 black and Hispanic 6-month old infants an unlicensed measles vaccine without the approval and consent of their parents. White House Hires ‘Terminator’ To ‘Squash Negative Stories’ About Obama

White House Hires Terminator To Squash Negative Stories About Obama 240511top

In a bid to ‘squash negative stories’ about Barack Obama that appear on the Internet, the White House has hired a dedicated propagandist whose role will be to savage people who tell “lies” about the President, in a chilling reminder of how prosecutors threatened people with jail time during the 2008 campaign if they criticized Obama.
“The Obama administration has created and staffed a new position tucked inside their communications shop for helping coordinate rapid response to unfavorable stories and fostering and improving relations with the progressive online community,” reports the Huffington Post.
The man tasked with the role of “disseminating push back” against Obama’s online critics by direct order of the White House will be Jesse Lee, a blogger who has previously put out White House spin in response to claims made by Glenn Beck.
“The post is a new one for this White House. Rapid response has been the purview of the Democratic National Committee (and will continue to be). Lee’s hire, however, suggests that a portion of it will now be handled from within the administration. It also signals that the White House will be adopting a more aggressive engagement in the online world in the months ahead.”
White House Hires Terminator To Squash Negative Stories About Obama 240511top2
Lee’s first Tweet as an official mouthpiece for White House propaganda and the Obama administration’s move to launch an “aggressive defense of the president and his policies” gives us some indication of what we can expect – the post includes a picture of the Terminator robot.
“If you’re going to post something online about Obama that isn’t true, Lee is going to be the one to handle you,” reports Chris O’Shea, noting that the move is about “squashing any negative stories” that could derail Obama’s re-election bid.
Lee obviously sees himself taking the role of ‘Terminator’ in destroying ‘conspiracies’ and ‘disinformation’ about the Obama 2012 campaign, similar to how Obama-supporting prosecutors and sheriffs in Missouri threatened people with jail time for telling “lies” about Obama during the 2008 campaign. News agencies in Pennsylvania and Ohio were also sent threatening letters demanding they stop airing ads exposing Obama’s anti-gun stance.
  • A d v e r t i s e m e n t
This has nothing to do with circulating “lies” about Obama, this is about intimidating, silencing and smearing anyone who dares tell the truth about Obama’s record or his highly dubious personal history.
As we documented in 2008, the Obama campaign’s effort to target “lies” about the president’s record was actually a transparent bid to keep his extreme anti-second amendment record under the radar as the election neared.
Not only was he on record as opposing handgun rights in Washington DC, Obama served on the board of the Joyce Foundation, probably the largest private funder of anti-gun and pro-ban groups and research in the country. In addition, Obama voted for a bill that would “expand the definition of armor piercing ammunition” and “support[ed] banning the sale of ammunition for assault weapons,” including 223 and .308 caliber bullets, the most common rifle ammunition. He supported the Illinois Firearms Owners Identification (FOID) Card, mandatory for residents when they buy any firearm in the state.
Obama’s record was clearly anti-second amendment to the hilt, but to communicate this fact to the public was characterized as “lying about the campaign” by Obama’s enforcers, and was met with threats and intimidation.
Expect the same thing to happen for 2012 – verifiable facts about Obama’s voting record and his stance on key issues, as well as documented examples of his deception on a myriad of different topics, will be targeted for ‘termination’ by Obama’s team of online attack dogs led by Jesse Lee.
And all this from the same administration that wants to give Obama a figurative ‘kill switch’ for the Internet that would hand the President Communist Chinese-style powers to shut down parts of the Internet for “security reasons,” in other words to silence and censor legitimate political opposition to Obama’s big government agenda.

Of course, this is all straight out of Cass Sunstein’s blueprint for hijacking and censoring the Internet by government regulation. Sunstein, Obama’s White House information czar, wrote a series of papers before the 2008 election in which he advocated banning or taxing “conspiracy theories,” including skepticism about man-made global warming, in addition to mandating by law that websites link to opposing information or that pop ups containing government propaganda be forcibly included on political blogs.
Obama supporter Bill Clinton, not known for his honesty, also recently advocated the creation of an Internet ministry of truth to address “misinformation and rumors floating on the Internet.”

TSA launches groping at high school proms, other public places

TheAlexJonesChannel
May 24, 2011
Alex Jones addresses the outrageous expansion of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) into high schools to screen students going to prom and graduation, as well as other public places.
Terrorists may strike anywhere, so security goons sticking their hands down your pants must be everywhere, or so the logic goes.

The temporary use of regular police to pat-down students a school in Santa Fe drew further attention to the order of a federal judge that TSA screeners must be present at key school functions. The school, already using a checkpoint, now must use TSA after a lawsuit was filed against other security personnel at the school who allegedly groped the bare legs of two sisters.
This disgusting development is only one phase of the strategic “soft-target” security roll-out by TSA and Homeland Security, who tell us that bus and train stations, as well as sports stadiums, shopping malls, hotels and religious centers must now be monitored by TSA-like security checkpoints.

Peter Fonda Issues Threat Against Obama: Is There a DHS Double Standard?

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars.com
May 24, 2011
Is actor Peter Fonda on a terror watch list now that he has called for the murder of Obama? Is it possible Rep. Peter King, the Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, will include Fonda in his investigation into domestic terrorism? Has the FBI pulled Fonda aside like it has less famous political activists and asked him if he plans to engage in terrorist activity?
On Sunday, the Telegraph reported Fonda had made a round-about threat while attending the Cannes film festival in France. “I’m training my grandchildren to use long-range rifles,” said Fonda. “For what purpose? Well, I’m not going to say the words ‘Barack Obama,’ but …”
The actor, famous for his portrayal of the hippie biker Captain America in the 1969 film “Easy Rider,” said “we are heading for a major conflict between the haves and the have nots. I came here many years ago with a biker movie and we stopped a war. Now, it’s about starting the world. “
On May 18, the Telegraph reported that Fonda called Obama a traitor for the role he played in the BP oil disaster. “I sent an email to President Obama saying, ‘You are a f—— traitor,’ using those words… ‘You’re a traitor, you allowed foreign boots on our soil telling our military — in this case the coastguard – what they can and could not do, and telling us, the citizens of the United States, what we could or could not do’.”
Fonda is a producer of “The Big Fix,” billed as an environmental documentary about the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The film concentrates on “the deep-rooted connection between the environmental crisis and the economic crisis,” according to its director, environmental activist and documentary filmmaker Josh Tickell.
“We are taking on the oil companies, the U.S. government, the military and the banks,” Tickell told The Hollywood Reporter. “And we are exposing something that the U.S. media didn’t cover… So there is a danger.”
  • A d v e r t i s e m e n t
No indication yet if that danger comes from the government, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security.
In 2010, a report issued by the DHS pinpointed the patriot movement, Second Amendment advocates, opponents of an open border, and returning veterans as the preeminent threat to the government, not environmentalists. The DHS, however, has not completely ignored leftists – it issued a similar report warning about the threat posed by extremists on the so-called left.
Is it possible the government does not consider Fonda and co-producer Tim Robbins as a serious threat to the established order because the environmental movement is by and large a creation of the globalists and their foundations?
Stock up with Fresh Food that lasts with eFoodsDirect (Ad)
If not for the largess of the Rockefeller Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Turner Foundation and assorted other foundations, the modern environmental movement would be an ignored fringe political movement. The Rockefeller Brothers Fund and the small but influential Rockefeller Family Fund operate the Environmental Grantmakers Association, one of the central guiding agencies for the global green movement.
Fonda and Tickell may rage against Obama and the bankers, but their screed fits nicely in the larger anti-capitalist movement directed and funded by the globalists in order to introduce their eugenics concepts of population reduction and the so-called rewilding of North America, in essence a dismantling of civilization under the aegis of saving the earth.
Peter Fonda will likely be allowed to issue indirect threats against the president without serious repercussions. If, on the other hand, a member of Oath Keepers, WeAreChange, or any other patriot organization not part of the left coddled and orchestrated by the elite, unwisely did likewise the FBI would be at their doorstep and the NSA cataloging and scrutinizing their phone calls, email and web destinations.

Ron Paul Bumpersticker Gets Man Kicked Out of National Park

The Rutherford Institute
May 24, 2011
BLACKSBURG, S.C. — The Rutherford Institute has come to the defense of a 73-year-old Virginia resident who was allegedly ordered by a park ranger to remove his car from a national military park in South Carolina because of political messages attached to his vehicle. Jack Faw, whose ancestors fought in the historic battle memorialized at Kings Mountain National Military Park, contacted The Rutherford Institute after being told by a park ranger that the decal promoting a political organization associated with Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), which was displayed on the back window of Faw’s car, was not allowed in the park. In a legal letter to Park officials, constitutional attorney John W. Whitehead warned that the ranger’s directive, which resulted in Faw being forced to leave the park, violated Faw’s First Amendment rights, as well as National Park Service regulations. Whitehead also demanded assurances that Park employees will be properly instructed in how to respect the constitutional rights of visitors to the Park so that Faw and others will not face similar restrictions in the future.
Whitehead’s letter to officials at Kings Mountain National Military Park is available here.

“The display of political messages from a vehicle is unquestionably expression protected by the First Amendment’s guarantee of freedom of speech,” said John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute. “This type of censorship is what you would expect in some foreign regime, not a public park in America.”
Jack Faw is a frequent visitor to Kings Mountain National Military Park in Blacksburg, S.C., which marks the site where three of his ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War. Faw visited the park on May 6, 2011, en route to his home in Virginia. Soon after arriving and in the midst of his tour through the exhibits, Faw was approached by a park ranger who asked Faw to come into the ranger’s office. The ranger informed Faw that he must remove his car from the parking lot because it displayed a political decal that is not allowed in National Parks. On the rear window of Faw’s passenger vehicle is a translucent decal promoting “Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty,” an organization dedicated to reestablishing and furthering the principles embodied in the United States Constitution. Although Faw protested that he had a right to display the decal and asserted it was not causing any disturbance, the ranger insisted that the car be removed from the park, at which point Mr. Faw felt compelled to comply with the order and left the Park.

Insisting that National Park employees be properly educated about basic constitutional precepts in order to ensure that this incident is not repeated, attorney John Whitehead reminded Park officials that visitors to National Parks do not forfeit their First Amendment rights to speech and expression. Indeed, noted Whitehead, Faw’s political messages on his vehicle appear to be wholly consistent with and allowable under regulations promulgated last October by the National Park Service concerning expressive activities by the public within National Parks. Furthermore, not only is the display of a political message on a vehicle unquestionably expression protected by the First Amendment, but a federal appeals court recently ruled that the right of citizens to freedom of speech applies within the confines of National Parks.

The American Dream is a 30 minute animated film by Tad Lumpkin & Harold Uhl that shows you how you’ve been scammed by the most basic elements of our government system. All of us Americans strive for the American Dream, and this film shows you why your dream is getting farther and farther away.
Do you know how your money is created? Or how banking works? Why did housing prices skyrocket and then plunge? Do you really know what the Federal Reserve System is and how it affects you every single day? The American Dream takes an entertaining but hard hitting look at how the problems we have today are nothing new, and why leaders throughout our history have warned us and fought against the current type of financial system we have in America today. You will be challenged to investigate some very entrenched and powerful institutions in this nation, and hopefully encouraged to help get our nation back on track.
